Course Overview

It is common knowledge that understanding the constitution is a major problem in most modern democracy. However, Constitutional Law and Development a platform for training high-level manpower with theoretical, empirical, administrative and practical skills to manage legislativeprocesses and activities within and outside the precincts of the hallowed Chambers of legislation with a catchment focus on Nigeria and Africa. Between one to four weeks certificated programme has been designed for legislatures and their aids to understand the role of the Constitution in governance.

  2. Similarities and differences between written and unwritten constitutions.
  3. discussion of the constitutions of other countries

By comparing parliaments from around the world and building upon their own experience, participants will leave fully equipped to undertake and extend their roles within parliamentary processes.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course delegates will be able to:

  1. Understand the role of a constitution in a democracy
  2. Gain in-depth knowledge of the objectives and scope of the Constitution
  3. Apprehend the constitutional development in other countries
